At twenty-four, after losing everything, I woke on a train I did not remember boarding. Down a light-filled hallway stood more doors than I could count — and behind each door, a world. Behind the first door I opened: a world like this one, but different. People were happy, at ease, and every one of them had purpose. I stood in that doorway a long time, watching, unseen — and understood that if I stepped all the way through, there would be no coming back.
This book is the record of that hallway and the worlds behind its doors. It is being written now, chapter by chapter.
